Part Settings

Part Creation

Toggle Part creation enabled to allow or prevent users from adding new parts directly in Silkline.

Allow Part Renaming

Controls whether users can change the Part Number field when editing existing parts.

Setting	Behavior
Enabled	Users can change the Part Number field when editing existing parts. All revisions of the part will be updated together to maintain part history.
Disabled	Part Number field is locked when editing existing parts. Part Numbers can only be set during part creation. This is the default and recommended setting for most organizations.

Caution: Renaming parts can cause integration issues with external systems that rely on the Part Number as an identifier. Only enable this setting if you understand the implications for your integrations and workflows.

Configurable Fields

Add custom fields to store part attributes, such as:

• Material Category — set up as a select/dropdown field

• Additional custom fields for specifications, sourcing notes, or internal IDs
